Charles, like his father before him, was a master-carpenter. He was baptised
in St-Come-de-Vair parrish, Mamers diocese, Le Mans township, Maine (now
Sarthe) district, in France. He lived in St-Pierre parrish, Belleme, Mortagne
Diocese, Perche (now Orne) district of France. At the recording in 1667 in
New France, he was living in Beaupre; at the recording of 1681, he was on the
Isle de Orleans as a master carpenter. He was cited in Quebec on 20 DEC 1656;
Charles having settled on the Isle or Orleans in the early 1600's, and since
no other families with that name arrived until much later, then it's safe to
assume that the current Pouliot clan on the island, of which there are MANY in
the St-Pierre town on that Island, are descended from this same Charles, and
further, It may only be coincidence, but Charles came from St-Pierre in France
and settled in St-Pierre, in New France. Wonder if he had anything to do with
the founding or naming of that township? He filed contract to marry with
Claude Aubert - Notary at Beaupre
