He was from St-Prix, town & ar. of Montmorency, archev. Paris (now in Val-
d'Oise), France. He was said to be 50 at his death, and ansered that he was 30
in 1666 somewhere in Trois-Riviers, and 30 in 1667, somewhere in the region of
Cap-de-la-Madeleine, He answered that hewas 40 in 1681, and at Champlain. He
was cited as being at Lauzon in 5 OCT 1662. He filed marriage contract with
LaTouche - Notary, (in Champlain, PQ.)

Dit name means "of the forest". He came to Canada sometime before 1664. He
signed his name as; "Gabriel Benoist". He and his wife resided in
Cap-de-la-Madeleine.
