Are some descprepancies as to the actual date of his death, but old Kittery
records show he was killed and scalped by the Indians in either 1702 of 1702,
and was about 105 years old at the time. Settled in Wells before 1653. John
Gooch calls Hammond his brother in town records.

He was born or baptised at St-Pierre de Gallardon, Chartres, Beauce, France.
Beauce is now in the district of Eure-et-Loir, in France. In 1667 he answered
that he was 77 years, and at Cap-Rouge, employed as a carpenter. In 1637 and
1640, he was at Quebec.
