DEATH-BURIAL-COMMENT: Renee Jette, "Dictionnaire Genealogique des Familles
du Quebec" 1983, University of Montreal, Page
She met a tragic death in early June of 1660, a victim of Huron renegades in
quest of plunder on the Beaupre coast. Masquerading as Iroquois they carried
off the young wife, her daughter Louise and three other children in her care.
They were overtaken and surprised by the French and some Algonquins at Pointe
Levis. Marie and one of her charges were killed in the skirmish which followed.

1614, where he was acquinted with Oliver Cromwell; was vicar of Bilsby, England
1623-1631; Came to Boston, MA in 1636; Preached at Mt. Wollaston (Braintree);
but sympathy with the views of his relative, Anne (Marbury) Hutchinson [ wife
of William Hutichinson ], led to his banishment from MA. He founded Exeter, NH
in 1638, but in 1642 it was declared to be within the limits of MA, and he
removed with some of those from his church to Wells, ME, a town of which he was
one of the original proprietors. After a reconciliation with the goverment, he
returned to Mass. in 1646, and was the third minister of the Hampton, NH
church. about 1647-1648. He went to England but returned about 1660, and became

!COMMENTS: From www.hampton.lib.nh.us/genealogy/ John was founder of Exeter,
NH. soon after his banishment from Boston in November, 1637. Books have been
written about him. He was educated at Sidney College, Cambridge University,
graduating with a B.A. in 1614-15 and a M.A. in 1618, He was vicar at Bilsby,
Lincolnshire from 1623-1633. He was the 3rd minister of Hampton. He was there
from 1647 to about 1658. Dow does not tell us to which of his two families his
children belong, but GDMNH add the information. See Noyes/Libby/Davis,
"Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire," (1939), pgs. 743-744.
