Is this the right Francis?? Birth date of Cenus would indicate his birth to be
1842, however, other sources (below indicate he was 30 years old in 1861, that
would place his birth date about 1831, eleven year earlier.

This fact is confirmed by the census records to date. Marriage recording shows
Francis to be of Darton, MA and wife to be from Portsmouth, NH. Recorded during
the Rectorship of Rev. William A. Hitchcock. Buried at the South or Harmony
Grove Cemetery, in Portsmouth. No date markings, just a USN inscription.

Book, USN 10/15/1819 to 12/17/1929".
April 20, 1860-Commenced work on the Dale, over 400 men taken on in Yard in
Different departments (apparently to overhaul this ship and several others)
Dale...; Feb 7, 1860-At 9:45AM U.S. Sloop Dale discovered to be sinking. Entire
force employed on her til night. yard engineers worked long as possible; Feb
12, 1860-Dale raised to upright position; Feb 13, 1860-
