He arrived in 1642 from France. At the census of 1698 he was in Beaubassin,
but later returned to Port Royal, Acadia. He recieved a land grant from Gov.
d'Aulnay. He was a surgeon or druggist. Arrived first in Port Royal. By 1672,
Jacques had moved to the Chignecto Basinnnn and founded the Bourgois settlement
later renamed Beaubassin. In 1699 he returned to Port Royal and died in 1701.

Family Ties", c. 1972, Page 35. He was a surgeon born in France in 1618, and
married at Port Royal, Acadia to Jeanne Trahan. He arrived in Acadia on the
ship "Aulnay" in 1642, having the rank of Military Doctor. The later was the
founder of Beaubassin. Carpenter, Merchant, Colonizer, Agriculturist,
Shipbuilder (from "Telegraph-Journal"). In 1641 Jacob Bourgeois and the soldier
Jehan Poirier were preparing to depart for NEw France ("Les Amities
Acadiennes", No. 64, p. 17. He sailed aboard the "Saint-Francois".

!COMMENT-MARRIAGE-CHILDREN-WILL-ORIGIN-RESIDENCE: John was a Purtian.
John removed from Watertown, MA to Wethersfield, CT probably in 1635.
He took the Freeman Oath March 4, 1635. He was a tanner, and came from
Watertown to Wethersfield with the first settlers. He died between may
20, 1639 and October 27, 1639. He made a deed dated May 20, 1639,
witnessed by Andrew Ward, and Robert Rose, but did not sign it; the
incomplete instrument, was confirmed November 23, 1639, by his widow
as administrator to his estate. The inventory was taken October 27,
1639; his heirs were his "widow Rachel and five children: two older
girls, a boy, and two younger girls, all under sixteen years." About
1655-57 the property was divided between Mary, wife of Francis Purdy,
John Brundige, Bethiah Brundige, and Postume Brundige.
John Brundige married Rachel Hubbard. In "One Thousand Years of Hubbard
History", it is stated that "she was a daughter of James and Naomi
(Cocke) Hubbard, of Mendelsham, Suffolk England" and married John
Brandish of Ipswich, Suffolk, England, and came to New England in 1633.
They lived in Salem Massachusetts, Wethersfield and Fairfield,
Connecticut."

He was baptised a Calvanist at Temple-Calvanist-de-La Rochelle, Aunis,
France. At the recording of 1666 and 1667, he working in Notre-Dame des Anges
as a carpenter/builder of big houses(?). He later died in either Notre-Dame des
Anges or in La Canardiere. He must surely have been a Huguenot.
