!BITH-DEATH-MARRIAGE-COMMENT: "History of Hampton, NH - 1638 to 1892" by Joseph
Dow, Volumes 1 & 2, Page 861 and 862.
Among the grantees and first settlers of Hampton are found the names of John
and Thomas Moulton, whose relationship to each other is not known. They had
assigned to them adjoining house-lots, and were neighbors more than 15 years,
till Thomas sold his lot and removed to Maine.
John Moulton and his wife Anne, were from Ormsby, in the county of Norfolk,
England. They came to New England in the spring of 1637, having then 5
children, one son and 4 daughters. Another son, born afterward, was baptized
at Newbury, MA, and a daughter was born and baptised after their settlement in
Hampton. His house lot lay on the west side of that of Thomas, and was
transmitted in his family down to Daniel Moulton, of the sixth generation, who
sold the larger part of it in 1866, and the rest more than 20 years later.
John immigrated in 1637 and settled at Winnacunnet in 1638. He was a freeman
May 22, 1639, and was chosen as the first deputy or representative of thetown
to the General Court in Boston, on the next September. He died somemtime
between 23 January, 1649 and 1 October 1650, when his will was proved. His age
was about 50 years.

She was of (in 1653) St-Amand-de-Boixe, Angouleme, Angoulois (now Charente
district). Or she may have been from St-Jean-d'Angely, Saintes, Saintonge (now
in the Charente-Maritime) as she was there in 1670.
