Page 321. He was a seaman, lost at sea, aboard the privateer "Portsmouth" in
1814. It is presumed that the family lived at Rye, although they had ties to
earlier families at Gosport, and Samuel certainly carried on the sea-going
traditions.

the Isles of Shoals 1715-1876 by Louise H. Tallman, p. 41. The family lived for
a few years at Gosport. During the Revolution, they would have removed to the
mainland since the Island was uninhabited during that period. There may be

France. He was said to be 71 years at his death. He answered that he was 27 in
1666 and 25 in 1667, and 42 in 1681, living in the base villiage of Quebec. He
was a master joiner or carpenter.

Nobleman, Leutenant (Judge) Civil and Criminal; was the first of name in
Canada. He was Civil and Criminal lieutenant and First Advisor to the
Superior Coincil of New France. He was from Norte-Dame-en Greve parrish,
Ambroise diocese, Tours, Touraine (now Indre-et-Liore) in France. He was said
to be 72 years old when he died, said that he was 37 at the recording of 1666,
52 at the recording of 1681, and in Quebec. He arrived in 1650 or 51, he was
probably the secretaty of Lauzon, and notary ni Quebec, from 1654-57.
